Applications Being Accepted for 2006-07 Cotton Leadership Class

MEMPHIS – The National Cotton Council is accepting announced today that the applications period for the 2004-06-07 Cotton Leadership Class opened today. NCC will accept applications from qualified U.S. industry members through June 16.

Those interested in applying to this class or nominating an industry member for it can visit the Cotton Leadership Program’s web site at http://leadership.cotton.org to review the program curriculum, eligibility requirements and download the application. The site also includes a contact form which allows users to submit questions, request information and schedule a personal visit with local program alumni.

The 2006-07 class, which will be comprised of four producers and one participant from each of the other six industry segments, will be announced in August by the NCC’s Cotton Leadership Development Committee.

The NCC’s Cotton Leadership Program is geared to individuals who have the potential and desire to become leaders for the U.S. cotton industry. Participants receive developmental training during five week-long sessions across the Cotton Belt. The class interacts with industry leaders and visits farms, processing operations and research facilities. They also meet with lawmakers and government agency representatives during a visit to Washington, DC, and attend the NCC’s annual meeting and its mid-year board of directors meeting.

The program, initiated in ’83, is supported by a grant to The Cotton Foundation from DuPont Crop Protection and The program, now in its 21st year, is supported by a grant to The Cotton Foundation from DuPont Crop Protection and is managed by NCC’s Member Services department..
